Kelly Schacht - P of Paradise, Portal, Pandemic

Kelly Schacht

Kelly Schacht created a new work for this exhibition entitled 'P of Paradise, Portal, Pandemic', which has been placed in the form of a large sticker on the windows of the side wall of the CC and in direct dialogue with the garden and the visitor / passer-by.

The quote 'Il Faut Cultiver Notre Jardin' from Voltaire's book 'Candide ou l'Optimisme' is the starting point for a graphic collage that touches a number of current and urgent subjects in a poetic way.

In recent years, Schacht has worked on a number of exhibitions under the heading "Collecting the Alphabet", an expanding visual abécédaire (eg: a ≈ monkey ≈ ?) that encloses a series of sculptures, performances and installations. For Schacht, the idea of putting together her own abécédaire started when she came into contact with that of the philosopher Deleuze. Schacht is fascinated by the last three letters, or rather by the concepts of Deleuze: X - the unknown, Y - the unpronounceable or untold and Z - the zigzag that connects and relates things. Her abécédaire is all about learning to speak in "the plural": the artist is like a searching nomad, looking for the place of language, speaking and communicating, a network of dialectics, encounters with new perspectives and exchange between people.
