De openluchttentoonstelling op de site van Cultuurcentrum De Ververij Ronse heeft een artistiek concept dat parallel loopt met dit van de tentoonstelling die doorgaat in het park van de Villa Carpentier Ronse.  

Het idee van de expo aan de Villa werd geïnitieerd door de Brusselse curatoren Yolande De Bontridder en Jennifer Plasman die getriggerd werden door het unieke landhuis annex park van de hand van de wereldberoemde architect Art Nouveau Victor Horta. 

Het lag eigenlijk voor de hand dat het organiseren van een dubbeltentoonstelling met Cultuurcentrum De Ververij zou focussen op de gemeenschappelijke architecturale insteek. 

Beide plekken hebben bovendien gemeen dat ze teruggaan op het historisch DNA van de stad, namelijk de textielindustrie.  De opdrachtgever voor de bouw van de Villa Carpentier rond de vorige eeuwwisseling was een welstellende textielfabriekseigenaar die een bijzonder zomerverblijf wou aan de rand van de stad.   Het terrein van de Ververij is dan weer een voormalige textielsite waar begin 20° eeuw een omvangrijke ververij werd gebouwd in de kenmerkende stijl van de toenmalige fabrieksarchitectuur. 

Op het domein van de Ververij staat sinds enige tijd een nieuw indrukwekkend én duurzaam gebouw met een sterk hedendaagse architecturale uitstraling én met een knipoog naar het textielerfgoed van de hand van EVR-architecten.  De ruime infrastructuur beïnvloedt ondertussen in sterke mate de buitenruimte én de hele omgeving.  Het stedelijk gebouw met een maatschappelijke functie heeft een opmerkelijk minimale vormgeving waarbij de onderlinge verhoudingen en de verschillende ‘warme’ materialen een essentiële rol spelen.  Dit geheel heeft de locatie tot een intrigerend stedelijk baken getransformeerd. 

Het concept van de tentoonstelling aan de Ververij evolueerde complementair en interactief met de expo in het park van de Villa Carpentier. De twee tentoonstellingen vormen samen een brug over de stad en zijn ontegensprekelijk verbonden met elkaar door hun architecturale inspiratiebronnen.  Tegelijker tijd zal ook de stad een ‘go between’ zijn voor de hedendaagse kunsten. 

Om het ontstaan en de uitwerking van de twee hedendaagse tentoonstellingen, in relatie tot de stad, in hun volle waarde te kunnen inschatten, zal de bezoeker  doorheen de stad wandelen en zal die ondertussen de stad Ronse ontdekken als een Art Deco stad, als een plek met een crypte op Europees niveau, de Vrijheid als oudste kern, … 

Uitgaande van de eigentijdse architectuur van het gebouw op de site van de Ververij werd gekozen voor beeldend kunstenaars die op een gedreven manier werken aan hun eigenzinnige kunstpraktijk. 

De selectie is gebaseerd specifiek op beeldend kunstenaars die een conceptuele invloed hebben in hun oeuvre dat op een gelaagde wijze refereert aan filosofie, sociale en culturele geschiedenis, ethiek, ecologie en duurzaamheid, design,...  maar dat evenzeer een specifieke en een gemeenschappelijk soort strakke en dynamische, soms interactieve vormelijkheid nastreeft. 

Bepaalde kunstenaars stellen beklijvende bestaande werken ter beschikking die een vernieuwde betekenis krijgen door de invloed van de omvangrijke en strakke ruimtelijkheid van de plek.  Andere kunstenaars bouwen hun werk anders op of ‘adapteren’ het. 

Evenveel kunstenaars maken nieuw (in situ) werk in hun studio’s en/of op de locatie, in de lijn van hun bestaand oeuvre of net niet.  Bij een aantal kunstenaars zal hun werk terplekke evolueren door het louter voortschrijden van de tijd.

De expo bestaat niet enkel uit sculpturen of installaties maar ook zullen kunstenaars interventies uitvoeren en is er een experimentele film te zien.  

De expo is een samenstelling van kunstenaressen en kunstenaars met een stevig artistiek parcours, zowel in binnen- als in buitenland maar ook degenen die aan de start staan van een veelbelovend oeuvre.

L'exposition en plein air sur le site du Centre culturel De Ververij à Renaix repose sur un concept artistique déployé en parallèle avec celui de l'exposition qui agrémente le parc de la Villa Carpentier à Renaix. 
L'idée de l'expo à la Villa a été lancée par les curatrices bruxelloises Yolande De Bontridder et Jennifer Plasman, inspirées par cette maison de campagne unique en son genre édifiée au sein du parc par l'architecte Art Nouveau de renommée mondiale Victor Horta.

Il était, certes, évident que la réponse à la demande enthousiaste d'organiser une exposition en tandem avec le Centre culturel De Ververij se concentrerait sur la vision architecturale commune.
Les deux sites ont en outre des racines similaires dans l'ADN historique de la ville, à savoir l'industrie textile. Le maître d'ouvrage de la Villa Carpentier, qui l'avait fait construire vers le tournant du siècle précédent, était le riche propriétaire d'une usine textile qui voulait une résidence d'été au charme exclusif en périphérie de la ville.  Le terrain de De Ververij est, lui aussi, un ancien site textile où une grande teinturerie fut construite au début du 20e siècle dans le style architectural typique des usines de l'époque.

Sur le domaine de De Ververij trône depuis quelque temps un nouveau bâtiment imposant, conçu par EVR-architecten dans une optique de durabilité. Empreinte d'un rayonnement architectural très contemporain, avec un clin d'œil au patrimoine textile, cette vaste infrastructure exerce une profonde influence sur l'espace extérieur et même l'ensemble de l'environnement. Le bâtiment urbain à vocation sociale se caractérise par un design remarquablement épuré, où les interactions et les différents matériaux « chaleureux » jouent un rôle essentiel. Autant d'éléments qui ont transformé les lieux en repair intrigant dans le tissu urbain.

Le concept de l'exposition au Centre De Ververij a évolué de manière complémentaire et interactive par rapport à celle du parc de la Villa Carpentier. Les deux expositions forment une passerelle sur la ville et sont clairement intercorrélées par leurs sources d'inspiration architecturales. En même temps, la ville servira également d'intermédiaire pour les arts contemporains.
Pour pouvoir apprécier la naissance et l'incidence de ces deux expositions contemporaines à leur juste valeur, par rapport à la ville, le visiteur déambulera dans cette dernière et, chemin faisant, découvrira Renaix comme une ville Art Déco, comme un lieu abritant l'une des plus belles cryptes d'Europe, dont « De Vrijheid » est le quartier historique le plus ancien, etc.

Imprégnés de l'architecture contemporaine du bâtiment édifié sur le site de De Ververij, les organisateurs ont choisi des artistes visuels s'adonnant avec enthousiasme à leur art singulier.
Leur sélection repose sur des artistes visuels exerçant une influence conceptuelle au travers de leur œuvre qui évoque à différents niveaux la philosophie, l'histoire sociale et culturelle, l'éthique, l'écologie, le développement durable, le design, etc. mais qui tend également vers une sorte de formalisme spécifique et collectif, à la fois sobre et dynamique, et parfois interactif.

Certains artistes mettent à disposition des œuvres existantes et captivantes qui revêtent un sens nouveau sous l'influence de l'espace sobre et étendu des lieux. D'autres structurent leur œuvre différemment ou procèdent à son « adaptation ».
Autant d'artistes créent des œuvres nouvelles (in situ) dans leurs studios et/ou sur site, en phase ou non avec leurs œuvres existantes. Chez certains artistes, l'œuvre évoluera sur place suite au simple écoulement du temps, ou sera reconstruite par leurs soins au fil de l'exposition.
L'expo ne se limite pas à des sculptures ou installations. Les artistes procéderont aussi à des interventions au niveau du bâtiment et un film pourra être regardé.  
L'expo rassemble des artistes masculins et féminins au solide parcours artistique, en Belgique comme à l'étranger, mais aussi des participants à l'aube d'une œuvre prometteuse.

The open-air exhibition on the site of cultural centre De Ververij Ronse has an artistic concept that runs parallel to that of the exhibition that takes place in the park of the Villa Carpentier Ronse.
The idea of ​​the expo at the Villa was initiated by the curators Yolande De Bontridder and Jennifer Plasman (Brussels), who were triggered by the unique manor house and park created by the world-famous Art Nouveau architect Victor Horta.

It was actually obvious that organizing a double exhibition with CC De Ververij would focus on the common architectural approach.
In addition, both places have in common that they go back to the historical DNA of the city, namely the textile industry. The client for the construction of the Villa Carpentier at the turn of the last century was a wealthy textile factory owner who wanted a special summer residence on the outskirts of the city. The site of De Ververij is a former textile site where an extensive dyeing factory was built in the early 20th century in the characteristic style of the factory's architecture at the time.

For some time now, there has been a new impressive and sustainable building on the site of De Ververij, with a strongly contemporary architectural appearance and with a nod to the textile heritage by EVR architects. The spacious infrastructure meanwhile strongly influences the outdoor space and the entire environment. The urban building with a social function has a remarkably minimal design in which the interrelationships and the different 'warm' materials play an essential role. All this has transformed the location into an intriguing urban beacon.

The concept of the exhibition at De Ververij evolved complementary and interactive with the exhibition in the park of the Villa Carpentier. The two exhibitions together form a bridge over the city and are undeniably linked by their architectural sources of inspiration. At the same time, the city will also be a "go between" for the contemporary arts. In order to fully appreciate the origins and elaboration of the two contemporary exhibitions, in relation to the city, the visitor will walk through the city and in the meantime discover the city of Ronse as an Art Deco city, as a place with a crypt at European level, “De Vrijheid” as the oldest core, ...

Based on the contemporary architecture of the building on the Ververij site, visual artists were chosen who enthusiastically work on their idiosyncratic art practice.
The selection is based specifically on visual artists who have a conceptual influence in their oeuvre that refers in a layered way to philosophy, social and cultural history, ethics, ecology and sustainability, design, ... but that also a specific and a common type of tight and pursues dynamic, sometimes interactive formality.

Certain artists make captivating existing works available that are given a new meaning by the influence of the extensive and sleek spatiality of the place. Other artists build their work differently or "adapt" it.
Just as many artists create new (in situ) work in their studios and / or on location, in line with their existing oeuvre or not. For a number of artists, their work will evolve on the spot by the mere passage of time.
The exhibition not only consists of sculptures or installations, but artists will also perform interventions and an experimental film can be seen.
The expo is a composition of artists with a solid artistic track, both at home and abroad, but also those who are at the start of a promising oeuvre.
